The rest of June 2010

Hang on picture overload here. I spent last week up in SLC with my mom cleaning more of her yard and getting weeds pulled and cleaning her garage. I have to say we did get alot accomplished while there. But mingled in with the work we did have some other fun too! This picture below is Luke playing croquet Luke style. We had a BBQ at Grandma and Grandpa Fowlks, Roger was in town from TX. G & G Fowlks
Brit and Lucas
Thursday they got Dads headstone set so we went on Friday to visit Dad and see his headstone, I really like how it turned out. That is MOM and DAD standing by the lake in their younger days. :)
Friday evening we went to Desirae's to have dinner and celebrate Joshs birthday and have smores we had a great time there everyone enjoyed their smores with their over sized marshmellows.
Logan enjoying his.
Here is Emma Blemma enjoying hers
Raylie was lovin that smore
Ellie decided that the smore was way to messy so she just went for the mellow
And there is Abbie she was REALLY enjoying that smore
Josh too the mellows were huge.
You can see where the Kids get it from
Grandpa liked his he wasn't quite as messy. The next few pics are of our garden I told Danette I would post some pics of our little garden. I harvested some strawberries when I went out to take pictures, they are not to big but they are very tasty.
Before they were picked.
Our little strawberry patch.
Here is our first little tomato turning red I can't wait to have garden fresh tomatos I love them.
We put in a drip system and I love it because it really cuts down on the weeds. I have to pull a few every now and then.
I would like to put in another grow box for next summer and double the size of our garden, I guess we will see what next year brings.
Here is our first little corn on the cob, it is so cute. It has such pretty little hair growing right now.

June 2010

The many faces of Raylie Cakes. We had planned an outing (thanks Chantelle) to go to Zions but we really didn't want to pay to get into the park so we found a park in Springdale right by the river and had lunch and lounged around. Josh had to be at work at 3 so they departed and the rest of us went to the big screen to watch the "Treasure of the Gods" which we had not seen in a long time.
Having fun swimming in Grandma and Grandpas pool its fun to have family down.
Celebrating Sharise and Joshs' birthday. We had a great time, first a dinner of Chicken and dumplings. They each got their own cakes. And the pictures of Luke is him after cake and ice cream taking a bath in grandma's sink.

HAPPY 19th BIRTHDAY SHARISE!!!!!!!

I can't believe this little face is 19 years old. She came into this world a week early, and as I have said before she has been fast ever since. She loved to be around people, she loved to talk to anyone when she was little. She was a very good baby and her big brother and sisters loved her to pieces. I didn't have to worry much cuz when she would cry someone would be right there to pick her up and comfort her.
She would always get an award for being the most caring person in her classes in Elementary school, she was always concerned for the other person. She has continued to be that way as she has grown. In 9th grade she made the High School JV Soccer team and loved playing soccer throughout her high school days.
She has recieved her CNA Certificate and is working and enjoying life right now living with a friend.
As a family we love this girl, she has always made life fun and interesting. She has grown into a beautiful young women and has a wonderful testimony of the gospel. She has always been a great example to me of reading her scriptures. We don't know where life will go for Sharise in the next few years but where ever it takes her she will always be an example to others of the kind of person we should be.
WE LOVE YOU SHARISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the big clean-up

My header picture is a picture of Dad's greenhouse when it was in full bloom. It was so sad to walk into his greenhouse and see it like this picture. This is what was left after he got sick and the heat took over. This past week-end we went to SLC to clean the greenhouse out. I have to admit it was a bitter sweet moment. Bitter because the plants were all dead and the touch of dads green thumb was no longer there and because I miss him, the sweet because of the memories that are in there and the things that we found. Wondering why he had a bucket full of skeleton keys. (two to a pkg.) Finding many different tools and wondering what he did with them. Wondering how he kept going up until a month before he past away.

Cleaning the GH out made me realize again how hard my dad worked. We also weeded and trimmed his big rose garden in the front yard. (no pictures of that) Brittany and I was talking and wondering how he did all that he did. I know my mom was right along side of him in the yard work, I was worn out by the time we finished for the day. And they kept this yard up year after year. This next picture is of my dads chair that he worked from in the earlier years in the recent years he sat on his walker in this spot this is jacket that is still there.

We had many little hands helping, they all miss their Grandpa Holt, when they would arrive at the house they would know right where to find him. They would run out to see him in the GH.

Many more hands.

This was the finished product for the day. We filled a dumpster, (we needed a bigger one to hold it all) hopefully we can sell or give these flats and cans to someone who can use them. It was suppose to rain that day, it did all night it started clearing and the sun came out for the most part.
Thank you dad for passing on so many memories of your beautiful flowers, your beautiful yard. I am sorry that you had so much pain the last month of your life. I feel so blessed to be able to have spent the last month with you and talk with you and reminisce about our lives together as daddy and daughter. I can't believe that it has almost been a year. Thank you for marrying mom and giving me life. I love both.

Visit with Chad and Danette in Vegas

We drove to Vegas to meet Chad and Danette who flew in on Thurs. for a little get away with out children (which I was sad not to see) but it was good seeing them. It was fun spending time with them. They stayed at the Vadra which is in the City Center. We first went and had lunch at a little pizza place on the way to Ethel M Chocolate Factory. Lunch was good and we got to the Factory it was open but because of being Sat. no production was happening. But the best part was tasting the chocolate. They also had a garden of Cactus' outside the Factory (didn't get pic) all different kinds and they where just starting to bloom.
The 3 pic below are of the Atrium in the Belligio it smelled really good. The snail is made of roses and the ladybug of carnations.

The train above is made of fondant.

Ron patiently awaiting his crepeDanette is in heaven with this giant Chocolate fountain.

This is the new bridge at Hoover Damn, not quite finished with it yet but it is pretty big.

This was us at the cute little pizza place that had sandwiches and pasta as well, it was very good food.
When I walked into Danette and Chad's room this is the first thing I spotted, well actually I seen it before we went to their room but had a clear picture out their window. I would really like to go see the Donny and Marie show sometime.
All in all we had a great time and can't wait to see the other two members of their family, hopefully this fall sometime.
